UNBOXING YOUR XERO POLE

SET UP

SET UP

You've just received your new XERO Pole, now what? It's easy! Your pole arrives already assembled. Just open the box and remove the pole. Be sure to locate the accessories like the pole tips that can be wrapped in the brown packing paper.

HOSE

The hose comes already run internally. You can leave it like this or pull it out to run it externally, it's totally your call! We recommend using it externally to avoid dragging dirt and debris up into the pole sections. The XERO Hose Clips are perfect for keeping it orderly while you work.

CONNECTING TO YOUR SYSTEM

Locate the On/Off Valve at the end of your pole hose. This connects to your purification system. Make sure your system is running and turn the valve to On and you're ready to go!

USING YOUR XERO POLE

Close-up of XERO pole clamps

USING THE CLAMPS

The XERO V4 Clamps feature a unique design that doesn't require you to fully open the lever. Just a partial unlatching is plenty to allow the sections to extend and collapse.

FORCING THE LEVER FULLY OPEN WILL DAMAGE IT!

When using your pole, you should use care when lowering sections and not slam them down into one another. This abrupt action can cause clamps to dislodge and they won't work properly.

Need to adjust, repair, or replace a clamp? Check out our how-to video below.

EXTENDING SECTIONS

When extending pole sections, be sure to look out for the warning indicators on the bottom of each section. It might be marked with a thin red bar or it might be a completely colored in section. Either way, you don't want that color showing above the clamp when you lock it in place.

Working with a section over-extended can lead to it snapping or cracking!

XERO POLE MAINTENANCE

DO'S & DON'Ts

DO'S & DON'Ts

Maintaining your XERO Pole is easy with routine care:

  • DO keep your pole clean.
  • DO regularly check and tighten clamps.
  • DO use an end cap for added protection.
  • DO periodically disassemble your entire pole and clean all sections.
  • DO clean more often if you run hose internally.
  • DO clean and protect pole sections by using a Dry PTFE Lubricant.
  • DO check and resecure your End Defenders with two part epoxy if they become loose.
  • DON'T over-tighten clamps
  • DON'T drag your pole on the ground when you work.
  • DON'T store your pole outside or in direct sunlight.
  • DON'T store your pole near harsh chemicals like bleach.
  • DON'T use it with or near harsh chemicals.
  • DON'T let dirt and debris build up on the inside of the sections.
  • DON'T store brushes with bristles down on a surface.
  • DON'T hang brushes by the tubing.
Protecting Your Pole

Protecting Your Pole

XERO water fed poles come with a built in base cap to help protect the carbon fiber from getting battered during use. These metal or plastic end defenders can take some of the wear and tear to keep your carbon intact.

For an extra layer of protection, you can use the included base cap. These molded base caps slide over the bottom of your pole for another layer of protection from banging against concrete and asphalt as you work.

Even with these protective measures, it's still important to remember to never drag your pole across the ground.

CLEANING YOUR POLE

CLEANING YOUR POLE

Whether you run your hose on the inside or outside of your pole, it's still good to do a full teardown and clean each section once a month. Most XERO poles allow you to completely remove the sections from one another. Give them a good rinse with a hose and dry with a soft, clean cloth. You can also use a Dry PTFE Spray or car polishing compound to help lubricate them so they slide nicely. Do not use regular WD-40.

We recommend running your pole tubing externally to avoid introducing dirt and debris to the inside of your pole. If you do run your hose internally, be sure to clean your pole more often. Dirt inside the pole sections can lead to premature wear.

WATER FED POLE FAQ'S

CLAMPS

Can I fix my broken clamp lever?

You can easily replace a broken lever with this replacement set. Simply unscrew the old one and install your new one. You can check out this helpful VIDEO for a how-to guide.

Why isn’t my clamp holding tight?

We check over and tighten all clamps before they leave our warehouse, but over time, it's normal for a clamp to start to loosen. It's easy to turn the adjuster dial to bring it back to the right tolerance.

It's important not to overtighten your clamps. Overtightening will make it very difficult to extend and collapse your pole sections. Only tighten to the point where the clamp holds the section tightly without affecting the function of the pole.

My clamp moved; what happened?

We've noticed this happening when users allow pole sections to slam down with too much force. This can cause the clamp to detach from the pole section. To avoid this, slowly lower sections in a controlled manner.

Follow the steps in THIS VIDEO to adjust your clamp back to the correct position.

How do I replace my broken clamp?

Easy as cake as long as you have the right size bit. Loosen the old clamp and remove it. Then install the new clamp over the section and tighten down the screws. Be sure the notch is lined up so the clamp can't spin side to side.

How do I install a clamp?

First, remove the old clamp if it's still on the section. Then slide the new clamp over the section and tighten it down. Ensure the notch is lined up so the clamp doesn't twist.

What size screwdriver do I need to replace my clamp?

The XERO Team uses a TORX 15 bit or T15 bit screwdriver.

POLE SECTIONS

Why are my sections spinning?

Sounds like your clamp isn't tight enough. You can adjust it so that it grips the section better. Be sure not to overtighten though!

Why can't I remove my section?

You may need to loosen the clamp on the section beneath the one you're trying to remove. Rarely, the clamp holding the section may need to be completely removed.

Why won't my section go in?

You may need to loosen the clamp on the section you're trying to install this section into.

Rarely, the clamp may need to be completely removed, slid over the section that is trying to be installed, then reattached to the larger section.

Why is it so hard to extend/collapse my sections?

If it isn't an issue with the clamp tightness, it may be an issue with dirt or debris building up inside the pole. Try completely disassembling it, hosing it down, and then reassembling after drying.

Additionally, you can use a Dry PTFE Lubricant or car waxing compound on clean carbon fiber water fed pole sections to help them glide smoother. A clean water fed pole is much less likely to get stuck.

My section broke, now what?

That's a bummer, but we're ready to help! Simply fill our a warranty form so we can get a new section out to you, or purchase one. They are easy to swap out on your pole.

To help identify the section you need to replace, refer to the number on the clamp of the broken pole section. Pole sections are numbered, where 1 is going to be the smallest diameter section that the Fast Lock adapter attaches to.

Can I make my pole longer?

Sometimes! We offer a variety of Universal Extensions and Add-On Sections so you can add length to your pole down the line. If you need help finding the right one, talk to one of our experts!

ACCESSORIES

How do I install Hose Clips?

It's easy! Remove the original bottom bolt and nut that is on your clamp and replace with the new longer bolt that came with the Hose Clip.

I can't get my pole tip/Fast Lock in

Try loosening up the #1 clamp. Loosening the lever slightly will allow you to get your Fast Lock Stem or Pole Tip into place. Then be sure to tighten it securely so it doesn't pull out while you work.

Is it better to run hose internally or externally?

XERO water fed poles will function more or less the same with the tubing run internally VS externally. Long term, though, it is better for the life of the pole to run the tubing externally.

We recommend using Hose Clips when running your hose externally to manage it with ease. This way you can avoid dirt and debris getting pulled up into the sections and from the hose knocking against the building you're working on.

Are base caps important?

Yes, but keep in mind, there will only be one end cap for the pole, even though many XERO water fed poles can pull apart. XERO poles also have an End Defender on every section that does pull apart. If there is an End Defender, that section can be used as the base of the pole.

I lost my End Defender, can I replace it?

Although rare, End Defenders can come loose and fall out. This happens mostly to internal sections, like sections 1,3,5, and 7 on the Micro. It's mainly from these sections being frequently removed from the sections they are nested into. Some two part epoxy can be applied to hold them in place forever. Be sure to clean the interior of the pole section as well as the End Defender before installation.

Why won't my Universal Extension fit my pole?

Universal Extensions are meant to work on our 9 section poles, however we do have adapters that will work with some additional poles.

If you have the XERO Micro, Destroyer 40', or SteveOnator, your Universal Extension should fit just fine! If you're having trouble, confirm the clamps aren't too tight and check out this VIDEO of how to properly install it.

If you have a different pole, you can use the XERO Universal Extension Adapter to act as the #7, #8, and/or #9 section so the Universal Extension fits properly. These handy little adapters take the place of the sections that aren't on your pole. So if you only have a 6-section pole, you would use all three adapters.

How do I fix bent bristles on my brush?

If your brush arrived with bent bristles, or your bristles get out of sorts from storing it improperly, you can generally bring it back to life easily! Get a bucket of warm water and let the brush soak. After a while, you should notice that the bristles are straight again. If this doesn't work, and it's a brand new brush, reach out to us so we can make it right.
