What is the Difference Between a DI Tank and a DI Cart?
DI Tanks and DI Carts essentially do the same job, but they each have their own unique benefits so one might suit you better than the other. Learn more below about which one to choose.
DI Tanks - Generally smaller and lighter; these have less of a footprint and are easy to store in your shop or truck. There is only the one tank that needs resin refilled so they are easy to maintain. They are usually a more affordable option. The drawback is that they can only be operated standing up, and can be cumbersome to move when full of water.
DI Carts - These can be easier to transport and could be used standing up or lying down. They may have multiple DI Canisters to refill and usually have a pre-filter that will need changing. They may be a little more expensive, but are often quite durable and require less frequent resin changes than a DI Tank.
Is a DI System Right for Me?
DI Systems might be the solution for your pure water needs if your TDS is under 100 or if you are an infrequent user. If you live in an area with hard water you may want to consider an RO/DI system. DI Tanks are great if you're looking for an affordable option to clean windows with a waterfed pole. They're also great for beginners who just want to test out pure water to see if it feels right.
How do I change the Filters on my DI System?
It's easy to maintain your DI System!
- If you have a DI Tank, all you need to do is unscrew the top or open the canister, dump the old resin, and refill it with new resin.
- If you have a DI Cart, it's not much harder. Use the filter wrench to unscrew the housing to the pre-filter, and replace it with a new one. Or if you need to change the resin, open up the stainless steel housing, then open up the canister to replace the resin.
