What is the difference between Nylon and Boar's Hair Bristles?

What is the difference between Nylon and Boar's Hair Bristles?

The bristles in your brush can have a great impact on how that clean is going to go. Make sure you have the right brush for the job.

Nylon - The least aggressive of the brush styles, nylon brushes are perfect for maintenance cleans. These bristles glide over the glass, cutting down on your fatigue. Dirt doesn't stick to the bristles so you can rinse with the brush on the pane.

Boar's Hair - This is the brush you need for the dirtiest of windows. Natural Boar's Hair is stiff and aggressive for agitating up grime. Drawbacks with this type of brush is that they get heavy when wet, they wear out faster, and the bristles tend to hold onto dirt so you have to hold the brush away from the glass while rinsing.

Should I use a brush or a scrubber for water fed window cleaning?

It all comes down to personal preference. Brushes are the traditional method that window cleaners have used for years. Brushes are great for agitating up dirt However, in recent years scrubbers have started gaining traction. They are lighter and offer a quicker way to change from an aggressive pad to a microfiber pad.

How are Water Fed Brushes measured?

How are Water Fed Brushes measured?

Water fed brushes are measured by the bristles, and not the brush block. If you look at the diagram, A is noting the brush block and B are the bristles.

If you have a 12-inch brush, you'll likely find the Block (A) to be around 10" and the Bristles (B) about 12".

There are small variances depending on how flared the bristles are. The reason we measure by the bristles is because that's the surface area that is actually on the glass. Some brands may even measure the size of when the bristles are splayed out under pressure.

What does a Rinse Bar do?

Rinse bars make is easier to get that perfect, spotless clean. They provide water flow across the length of the brush to rinse down glass without the brush bristles touching the pane.
